unfortunetly im running across the same problem.
I try running the launcher but nothing happens. when I look at my processes, I can see the process for sims 2 for about maybe 5 to 10 seconds before the process dissapears. ive even tried running capatability mode ( windows 7, and XP SP3.)
anyone have the same problems?

This seemed to fix my game played it now for about 4 hours without a crash, i think it was basically the game not recognising my graphics card.
