- @puzzlezaddict I understand that but if someone does know that problem and how to fix it maybe they can help! 🙂
@AbC5595a3631899 , we are very much used to problems with Sims 2 here in this section and yes, we still monitor it.
So, you had the game installed on your computer just fine and then decided to install it from Origin as Sims 2 Ulitimate Collection. You need to make sure that the original install is completely gone from your computer. Before reinstalling again, move your Sims 2 folder (Found Documents > EA Games > Sims 2) to your Desktop. Do NOT copy and paste or create a shortcut. Actually move the folder to your Desktop. This will keep any saved games, Custom Content or Mods safe until you get the game back in tip top shape.
Once the folder is safely moved you can trash the EA Games folder that is left. Next make sure that you completely uninstall the game. When you are sure that nothing is lurking around, try to reinstall the game from Origin as that will be the easiest install and you won't have to worry about Securom if you had Free Time or later on CD/DVD. That should provide a fairly straightforward install with no work arounds at this time. After the game has completely reinstalled, download a program called "Graphics Rule Maker". Even if your graphics card was supported back in the day, it's still a good idea to run and have this program available as it fixes many of the issues with Direct X 9.0. Follow the instructions included with the program. If you have any issues using this particular program, the folks at LeeFish's forums will be happy to assist you further. You can find them if you do a Google search.
Once you complete these two steps try once more to see if the game will start up and run. If it does, start a new game and play for about an hour to make sure you can see and do everything.
Please keep us updated so we can advise on next steps.
- @Tremayne4260 that is good to know, thank you, but I did that and it still crashes and keeps on crashing that is why I had to remove Origin. when I scanned the game (anti-virus scan) it found that origin has trojans in it's own folders so I tried removing it but couldn't unless unstalling it. reinstall again and still crashing because of that thing... goes on and on . so I finally removed origin completely but it did mess up the pc and can't find any other origin files but who knows!!!
@AbC5595a3631899 , sometimes Anti-Virus programs scan 'normal' files as viruses. However, you may want to contact EA since Origin is their program. It sounds like it might be an issue with Origin that is causing the game to crash.
