Re: The Sims Castaway Stories

I've also been unable to activate the game, despite having purchased the game on Origin so long ago.  After downloading and installing the game, once I try to launch the game it opens a window saying "Sign in with your EA account to activate your game".  However, all attempts are met with "Could not connect to the server" no matter how many times I've tried over the years.  I'm assuming that whatever server was used to handle these requests has long been switched off.  Is there any known workaround to launching the game / bypassing this login system?  I have a valid game key.  Thanks so much!  Looking forward to one day being able to play this game again 🙂

  • I just tried to redownload the game after purchasing a digital copy from EA games when it first came out and it tells me the same thing. I contacted Origin to figure out what to do and they said that they no longer support the game and there's no way to play it.

Many of the older Sims titles have never been available on Origin or if they were, they are no longer supported. The only way to play these games are from CD/DVD copies (on the Windows OS) and will require an external CD drive if your computer does not have one. You can certainly find copies of these games in game stores that sell used games, Amazon, E-Bay or Goodwill/Salvation Army stores. Even if the game is used you can still use the game codes since EA no longer requires the codes to be registered to play.

If you play on a Mac, Aspyr has ported and updated some of the older games to run on Catalina as 64 bit games and they are available for purchase on the Apple App Store.
