Re: Unable to load Sims 2
@TheSims4Builder Please repair the game once again and disable any compatibility mode you might have enabled.
Since The Sims 2 is not natively 100% compatible with modern hardware, you will need to do some tweaking to game files to make the game recognize what it's running on. SimsNetwork has a great tool called Graphics Rules Maker that can do that for you. You can download it on their website, I am not sure if I can link it here, but the first Google search should lead you there.
Once you install it, make sure you launch it as Administrator, otherwise you might not be able to save the changes.. Look up Graphics Rules Maker in Start Menu, right-click on it, and Run as Administrator.
Since the tool supports multiple games, make sure that the Game drop-down menu says The Sims 2. If it has not already located your game, click the Locate Game button. If that fails, browse to the installation folder of Mansion & Garden Stuff (called SP9 in Ultimate Collection. The default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9. If you have installed it elsewhere, adjust it to match your configuration.
As for settings in Graphics Rules Maker, please select the following:
- Force texture memory: 4096 MB
- Disable texture memory estimate adjustment
- Enable driver's memory manager
- Default/Maximum resolution: set it to the highest available.
Save those changes and add your graphics card to the game's database if it asks you to.
