service initialization error?

Hey, I just bought and downloaded the Sims Medieval Pack from origin (it contains the base game and the pirates expansion pack) and it will not run (I'm on a Mac). All I'm getting are these service initialization error messages when I try to launch. I've tried a bunch of different advice I've found online but to no avail. I'm starting to feel like my nostalgia had lead to me just losing out on $20. Please help me!!! I'm a broke college student who just wanted to enjoy a little throwback gameplay. 😢
