Sims 1: Serial number on manual no longer works.
I have tried entering the code on the manual and it no longer works.

Have you already use the serial number? If you use the serial number it's affiliate to the Origin account where you have enter it.
If your game don't appear on you Origin read this:

If you never enter the serial in an Origin account contact the assistance, some key in physical version no longer work on old games.

@makmatmadmat , unfortunately the original Sims (simply called The Sims) was never available on Origin or in a digital format. I'm not sure if you registered your game at the original The Sims BBS, and I am not sure if you can obtain another key to install the game. I know other players have been able to install the game on their computers, and again I am not sure if they installed them with the keys. I know you do need the disks to play the game.
