Sims 2 - Application Will Now Terminate (4G Patch DOES NOT fix this)

***DOWNLOADING THE 4G PATCH WILL NOT FIX MY PROBLEM.***

I have the standard problem with the game crashing after playing it for a few minutes. In the past, I recall there was a solution that worked for me that was simpler than installing the 4G patch; however I cannot find it or remember what it was. This is a re-installation on the same machine the game previously worked fine on (after applying the fix (By fix I mean the one I forgot, NOT the 4G patch.))

Installing the 4G patch - While following all of the directions - causes my game to not launch at all. I have tried installing it multiple ways, and have followed at least three step-by-step tutorials on how to do so. Does anybody know another fix for this issue?

    @blainers01 , have you downloaded Graphics Rule Maker to update your Graphics Rule.sgr file to recognize your graphics card? You can Google search for Graphics Rule Maker to find the program.
