Sims 2 crashing without CC

If you want the game screen to be Window please Right-Click the .exe on your desktop and go to "Properties"

Go to the "Shortcut" tab, and look for "Target", hit the space bar ONCE then add  "-r800x600" at the end.

Note:

You don't need "-w" there like, shown in my last picture. That is to make the screen Windowed. Though, doing that, then adding "-r800x600" could help your problem. Just be sure to space it ONCE between the 2 of them.

Would you be willing to find the error log? As well as your computer specs?

You can find an error log in your "Logs" folder in The Sims 2 folder in the EA Games folder. Just paste what it says in a comment.
