Hi!I have The Sims 2 disks, and I've managed to download it. I just wanted to try with the base game first, to see if it runs good before putting in expansion packs. However, when I do load into the game, whenever I try to load either a family or try to create a sim, I get a crash. I also have a few texture bugs, which I do not know how to fix. I will leave 2 images below!Thanks in advanced!

@rn2yebphba29 Missing textures might indicate problems with installation files, which can be caused either by a corrupt installation (especially if you tried to install the base game patch on Windows 10/11), or an antivirus program preventing the game from accessing some files.Either way, due to the way The Sims 2 works, I recommend having all packs installed before you try using any fixes; if you add any fixes to the base game, installing any pack will undo them. Hi!Thank you for quick response! One question though, do I need all the expansions, because I do not frankly have them. Right now, I have Nightlife, Pets, University and Open for Business. I am also planning on buying Apartment life and Seasons.I've posted my DxDiag below 🙂

@rn2yebphba29 You do not need all Expansions for the game to work, just keep in mind that installing any EP released after Pets will require you to re-apply any Graphics Rules fixes. For now, this is not something you need to worry about as the game needs to be installed first. First, you will need to do a clean uninstall using Revo Uninstaller. Since you mentioned in the first post that you were just testing whether the game would work, I assume you do not have any saved games you wish to keep. If you do, please copy The Sims 2 folder from Documents\EA Games\ into a safe location, and rename it to something that does not include the word 'Sims'. You can find Revo Uninstaller here, and the free version should be fine. Open Revo Uninstaller, then find The Sims 2 on the list. If you have any Sims 2 Expansion or Stuff Packs, you will uninstall those before you uninstall the base game. Once you select The Sims 2 (or The Sims 2 Expansion/Stuff Pack), click Uninstall. Once the game is uninstalled, under Scanning Modes select Moderate and click Scan. A list of remaining files will appear; you can delete files related to The Sims 2, but be careful not to delete anything else. To do that, tick the boxes next to the files you want to delete, then click Delete. When you are done, click Finish, close Revo Uninstaller, and restart your PC. If you run into any issues or need help, let me know. Once the game has been uninstalled, we can move on to the installation process.

@rn2yebphba29 Awesome, now you can install the game again, but you will need to make some tweaks for the game to install and patch without issues. You can download The Sims 2 base game patch, as well as the patches for each pack you own, from Mod the Sims. If you run into issues while trying to download them, please copy each download link into a new browser tab and press Enter. For Pets, please make sure you download the Disk patch and not the Digital patch. You will install each patch as soon as its respective pack is installed, and only then move on to the next pack. Base game, University, and Nightlife patches require a program called GrumpyLoader to run without crashing. Without it, the patches may crash during the update process and corrupt the installation. You can find GrumpyLoader on a Mod the Sims thread called A Word of Warning About Windows 8, on post #193 by Raven Dragonfire. The game should be installed in this order: The Sims 2 base game (+ the base game patch) The Sims 2 University (+ University patch) The Sims 2 Nightlife (+ Nightlife patch) The Sims 2 Open for Business (+ Open for Business patch) The Sims 2 Pets (+ Pets Disk patch) To install patches for the base game, University, and Nightlife, please follow these steps: Run GrumpyLoader and click Load. Browse to the patch you want to install and select it. The patch process should start. When you get a message that asks whether you wish to ignore an error, click Yes. Once the patch process is complete, please run the same patch you've just installed, but this time without GrumpyLoader. If you see a message that The Sims 2 is already up to date, it means that the game/pack was patched successfully. Let me know when you do this, or if you run into any issues.

@rn2yebphba29 You will need to run the Sims 2 patches using GrumpyLoader, not the game executable (such as Sims2.exe).

You can find The Sims 2 patches on Mod the Sims: https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS2_Patches

Look for and download the patch files for every pack that you own. If clicking on the link doesn't start the download, then copy each download link into a new browser tab and press Enter. The files should, by default, download into your PC's Downloads folder. If you have ever changed this location, they will download it into the location you selected. Alternatively, you can open your browser's download history and look for the "Show in folder" button.

Once you install the base game, you can install the base game patch (that you downloaded from Mod the Sims) using GrumpyLoader, according to instructions from this post. After you have confirmed that the base game has been patched, you can install University, and repeat the process with the University patch. Then you can install Nightlife, and do the same with the Nightlife patch. For Open for Business and Pets patches, you should not need GrumpyLoader, but have it ready just in case.
