One instance where I noticed this in my game was a failed base game patch, which corrupted one of the core game files and prevented lots from loading. You have physical copies of the game, so that might be a possible cause of the issue.
Since you have all Expansion Packs, please let me know if you updated each and every one of them, including the base game. For every patch, you should have got a message that says it was completed successfully. Please note that not all patches are included on disks, and you might have to look for them on sites such as Mod the Sims or SimsVIP.
To check if your base game patch has crashed, please check the base game's objects.package file; that one usually gets corrupted during a failed update. It should be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Objects\ if you installed the game in the default location. There should only be one file in that folder.
Aside from this, let me know if you have used Graphics Rules Maker, and, if you did, which settings you applied.
Having issues with these reply's.
Thank you for your reply, By patch do you mean the 4gb patch? or something else?
The only files in my objects folder are "objects (2021_04_16 21_32_17 UTC),package" and "objects.package"
As for my Graphics ruler i have a attached a picture of what it is set at.
- mate544 years agoHero+@stitchandtigger By patches I am referring to game updates that EA released for the game (bug fixes, etc.). They were available on The Sims 2 website before it was closed, and are now available on Mod the Sims and SimsVIP.
You're saying that the Objects folder has more than one file? That is a symptom of a failed patch and that's why you cannot load into any lots. The file is corrupt and the game can't read it.
As for Graphics Rules Maker, some settings should be tweaked, but you should leave that until after every applicable game patch has been installed.
Let me know if you need help installing EA's patches.- 4 years ago
This is turning into a rabbit hole!
So the patches wouldn't work on the game as there was a problem with the original file's. The solution was to uninstall and reinstall! Which i have done, but due to issue's have used both the auto install and the copy disc and auto install options. Both are leaving me with "you are running the wrong version of The sims 2. Please run Blah instead" Blah has changed a couple of times after different installations.
I have also ran the Patches I got from Mod the sims website and a patch TS2 Update.
If I was less stubborn I would give up!

@stitchandtigger , here's something I've found works great. Ok, unistall Sims 2 once more. Next thing to do is to install just the base game and patch it. Start up the game and see if everything runs ok. Repeat for next Expansion/Stuff pack. (I know time consuming). However, this will insure that your game is properly patched. Finally, patch with the 4GB patch which should help the game to run better and Graphics Rule Maker as well. Graphics Rule Maker can be found on SimsNetwork. Make sure to get the latest version as this will allow the game to recognize newer graphics cards and allow the game to run more smoothly.
