Sims 2 Extreme Lag

Hi all!

So I am playing the Sims 2 on windows 10. I have installed the 4gb patch, the game recognizes my video card and I'm also playing with Sims2RPC.

However I am experiencing extreme lag and choppiness especially when playing on the fastest time speed 🏀 but it also happens sometimes on normal game speed. I'm playing on a clean template of Pleasantview, I ran HoodChecker etc. I did everything I could find on Google about optimizing the game for newer computers.

My resolution is 1920x1080.

This is my DxDiag:

  • Can you please post the game's config-log.txt file from Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs?

@xbringmeflowers The game's log looks okay, and Graphics Rules Maker fixes are correct for your setup. Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date; you can use GeForce Experience to update them.

The game is most likely to lag a little on high speed anyway, but you can try lowering the view distance in game options and seeing if that helps; that works in my game when I have lots of neighborhood decorations. Since you use Sims2RPC, check if you increased Lot Imposter and shadow quality, those will cause some lag because they increase detail beyond normal game limits.

  • Thanks! Will do 🙂

Also do you think the lag might be caused cause of the resolution? Since it's the highest setting possible I was thinking maybe that could be one thing contributing to the lag

@xbringmeflowers You could lower it to see if there are any differences. I play in 1920x1080 but haven't had any issues. You can also switch between windowed and fullscreen modes to see if they perform the same.
