Sims 2 Legacy Food Disappearing After Cooking

Hi, I'm new to reporting bugs so I apologize that I don't know all the standard protocol. I've been running into an issue with the sims 2 legacy edition where my sims cook food on a stove, grill, etc and then the food disappears when they put it down and ceases to exist. I can really only feed them snacks that don't require preparation (or therefore being put down) and they can get delivered pizza or Chinese food. I have tried changing counters/tables, what they cook on, etc and the problem was persisting in one household. I haven't had it happen yet in a second household, but in my first household, the glitch happened about an hour into gameplay and then persisted the next day I played as well. If it helps, sometimes (but not always) when using an oven or microwave, it will also freeze with the door open and the only way to get it closed is to delete and replace it - cooking again doesn't fix the animation.
