You probably just need to update directx. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/fixing-game-performance-problems You can check on the microsoft web page. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/which-version-directx#which-version-directx=windows-vista this page will tell you what version you should have for your version of windows.I have windows vista and it is using directx 11. If it is not current you can update it and that should fix your problem.
