SIMS 2 UC CAN'T CHANGE RESOLUTION

I have the sims 2 ultimate collection, but it fails to load whenever I try to change the resolution to my monitor from the default 800x600. I have the correct graphics setting for my nvidia 940m card...

@charlotteWL Hmm, I know that a lot of games can give folks plenty headaches if you try to get them running in certain resolutions. Can I ask what OS you're using and what's your desktop resolution? If you swap to Windowed mode and stretch the screen, does that work for you?
