Sims 2 UC Stuck on NEW Neighborhood Loading Screen Then Crashes

issue:

(This is a new Sims 2 Ultimate Collection Download)

When trying to load a maxis neighborhood, the game will get stuck on "creating magic" and then crash

TIMELINE OF EVENTS:

I recently installed the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. I have a wondows 7 professional with 4gb of RAM

The first thing I did with the game is use CFF Explorer to allow it to recognize more than 2gb of space (did the same thing for sims 2 body shop)

The second thing I did was a Data Execution prevention (again same for body shop)

I then bakced up the origional my documents contents and took all 40 GB of cc's and data from my old sims 2 game from my old laptop, and moved everything over to the new my documents folder. hardly anything transferred in the end because my external hard drive quit on me RIP ☹️ but anyway...

I then loaded up the sims 2 body shop and played for like 15 min.

I then deleted all the .cashe, and thumbnails.

I then loaded up the sims 2 game and the initional loading screen loaded fine, but HERE IS WHERE MY PROBLEM STARTS**

When I tried to click into a neighborhood (Pleasentview or verona ville) it will go through it's basic functions... loading pets, vacations.... the usual when creating a new neighborhood. When it comes to the LAST one, creating magic, it loads completely, then dosent take me to the neighborhood.

When encountering this problem, I immediately removed all of files I transferred from my old laptop and replaced them with the originals, when I loaded it again, the same thing happened.

I read in an article that if you delete the "Neighborhood manager" package, that might work, so I deleted that, along with the .cashe and thumbnails again.

I proceeded to try and load a neighborhood again, only this time, I went to eat dinner for 20 minuets, when I came back, the game had crashed.

Can someone please help me figure out how to solve this problem? THANK YOU

  • @happybunny07hi! If you move folder Mods in other place, what happing? Another city is loaded successfully?

Your old laptop did well with 40 GB of CC? Do you have any mods or hacks?

Thank you for your reply. The game never worked from the second I installed it. I had all my ccs and mods on an external harddrive and yes everything worked fine.

I took all the mods away from the new game and still experiencing this issue. I have never been able to get into any neighborhood.

*****I did some more digging, and I read somewhere that the game wont work properly if the files are "Read only" I have this blue box shaded over the read only and I can't for the life of me remove it. I have tried cmd, taking ownership, changing permissions ect ect.... nothing is working.

When I create a new folder, It automaticlly have the dreaded blue box. I did however, go into each file and unchecked the "read only" attribute. When I go back and check, the read only attribute is unchecked. I might give my game a try and see if that works.

Do you think its a read only issue? or can I try something else?

I not sure, but I think yes. Why? Because in folder in my documents contained data of neighborhoods. If folder have the check or blue box, it may lead to impossibility save the game or make impossibility create new neighborhood. Hmm. If you repair the game, situation not change?

    here is my update,

I fixed all of the read only stuff on the files, but as soon as I load a neighborhood and it goes through the "creating exotic destinations ect..." The game will crash at "making magic"

Do you know how to fix this problem?

(My tiemline of events is listed in the first part of the thread)

@happybunny07oh. May you upload your folder The Sims 2 in fileshare? for example dropbox, mediafire...as you will be comfortable. And then I see your saves in my game. Okay?

By the way, you tried make reinstall your game? Sorry, if you say it...

And what the system installed on your PC?

  • I have the same problem. I installed The Sims UC from origin and every time I try loading any neighborhood the game creates "pets, exotic destinations, magic...", then the cursor changes but I am not able to reach the neighborhood. I uninstalled it with Revo ( I uninstalled even origin), installed it again, deleted cache but it is still not working. The game doesn't crash, it just won't load. I was waiting 20 minutes and it was stuck.

@JamieEpicLP , are you playing with Mods or CC? If so, try the following steps.

    1) Move the Sims 2 folder to your Desktop. (Found Documents > EA Games > Sims 2). Do NOT create a short cut. Actually move the folder.

    2) Start up the game as normal to allow for a new Sims 2 folder to generate. You can either pick a Neighborhood to start up or simply quit.

    3) Next go into the New Sims 2 folder and add a Downloads folder. Put only a few pieces of CC in to start with. (Say 20 to 30 pieces).

    4) Start up the game again and click on the "Enable CC" button when the game first starts up. You can either a play for a bit or quit back out again. Your CC will not show up until click the button and then restart your game.

Please report back here once you have done these first few steps.
