Sims 2 Ultimate Collection crash on loading screen
It loads fine, until I try to select a family to play as. It loads about halfway through and then stops loading, but I am still able to move my cursor and the game still plays the music

Is this the first time you try to play the game? Was it working right before in that same computer?
Could you please give us more technical information about your computer? A dxdiag would be very helpful. You can find instructions on how to get a dxdiag here, and you can attach it to your answer.
