@N3WB0RN1R0NMAN , first of all you need to be really careful about what CC and mods you download for the game. There is a limit on how much CC the game can handle (I think it's 4GB but I'm not sure).
Have a couple of questions first before I offer some suggestions.
1) Did the game start and play fine before you added the new CC?
2) What OS version are you playing on?
3) Did you update your Graphics Rule.sgr file?
Thanks!
- 6 years ago@Tremayne4260 1) Did the game start and play fine before you added the new CC?
A) Yes, but it also worked after we installed CC. It only stopped working after I installed 2 more CC
2) What OS version are you playing on?
A) it says Windows NT 6.2 but I have Windows 8.1 PRO
3) Did you update your Graphics Rule.sgr file?
A) No, I don't know about updating it but I did install the graphics rules from sims network and that did the job when we first started playing because it would crash because we didn't have the graphics rules.
PS. I uninstalled(cause GF told me to)and it still crashes got rid of all my CC and neighborhoods(it still doesn't show the cutscene)and goes straight to the loading screen and crashes- Tremayne42606 years agoHero
@N3WB0RN1R0NMAN , thanks for the information.
It sounds like something is possibly corrupt in your game, but don't worry. You don't need to reinstall the game at this point. I do want you to do the the following.
1) Go to Documents and locate the EA Games folder. Inside this you should see a folder called "Sims 2". Move (do not copy or create a shortcut) this folder to your Desktop. Don't worry your game will create a new one which is what we want it to do. Your saved games will be safe on your Desktop at this point.
2) Start up your game and see if all the proper screens come up. Hopefully they will as we are starting a "new vanilla game" at this point. None of your saves will be present at this time.
3) Next play for a while and see if anything out of the ordinary occurs at this time. This is a good time to troubleshoot before adding back any CC or mods you want to play with.
Let me know what happens after you do this at this point. And we'll go from there. 🙂
