Try running it in compatibility for XP Service Pack 2 (NOT 3), and turning off compatibility mode altogether.

it wont let me change my compatability for Sims2EP9 which that is my launcher
but i can change them for TS2UPD , TS2UPD0 , TS2UPD16
- 11 years agoFor anyone who is having difficulty changing the compatibility mode, when you right click the Sims 2 icon, instead of looking for it in Properties, look for an option that says Troubleshoot compatibility settings. I was able to change the settings and attempt running it in different compatibility modes, however it didnt help me at all. The game still crashes when I go into create a similar, or try to load a family, or build a house. I'm running either Windows 8 or 8.1 and I have Intel graphics 3000,as do many others. The game must not work on these kinds of computers, as it works on my sisters much more powerful laptop which is not running Windows 8 yet was built for games, so I guess it can handle it better?

Thank you so much for telling me how to run in compatibility mode for this game! I have been searching everywhere to find out how to do it. When i tried searching for it in properties, it wasn't there. But thank you so much!
