Sims 2 Ultimate Collection with Windows 8.1?

For anyone who is having difficulty changing the compatibility mode, when you right click the Sims 2 icon, instead of looking for it in Properties, look for an option that says Troubleshoot compatibility settings. I was able to change the settings and attempt running it in different compatibility modes, however it didnt help me at all. The game still crashes when I go into create a similar, or try to load a family, or build a house. I'm running either Windows 8 or 8.1 and I have Intel graphics 3000,as do many others. The game must not work on these kinds of computers, as it works on my sisters much more powerful laptop which is not running Windows 8 yet was built for games, so I guess it can handle it better?
