sims 2

Hi all, I just recently bought the sims 2 disc used from amazon, and it still works, which is really great! But, I’ve noticed a small problem. Whenever I enter create a sim (cas) it’s extremely bright. Like the actual sim and some items in the background (I.e rug and chair) are really bright. I’ve looked up how to fix it, and people say use the cheat “boolprop useShaders true” and it should go away. But whenever I enter the cheat, it for some reason doesn’t work? Even with testingcheats enabled. If someone could help, that would be great. Thanks,

Also, I tried adding a photo of what it looks like, please let me know if it worked. 🙂

  • @Rushingwindsong I believe the cheat is supposed to be set to false:

    boolProp useShaders false

However, if you want a more permanent solution, modder Lazy Duchess has made a mod “Overly Bright CAS Fix” which should take care of it.
  • Ah, I tried the cheat, I did “boolprop useShaders false” and it still didn’t work ☹️ and I honestly prefer not to use mods just because I’m cautious. I also uninstalled and reinstalled sims 2, still nothing. Oh well, it’s not TOO bad to deal with, it’s not like I’m in create a sim too often, anyways. But thanks for replying!

@Rushingwindsong , while mods for newer games like Sims 4 may need constant updating, Sims 2 is an older game and many of the mods are pretty well established. I have a few mods for the game and I've not had any problems and quite often they prevent many issues from cropping up. Have you used Graphics Rule Maker as well? Just checking to see if you have and it may resolve your issue.
