I strongly disagree with lumping the concept of "no pushback" and "full control" together. Non-sandbox players seem to imagine that playstyle as bereft of any challenge. In sandbox playstyle the game still needs to react and present obstacles, albeit within clearly defined parameters. Only I, as the player, can know which company currently hires, how difficult it is to get a job in the first place, how far my sims can advance and who their co-worker are (a part time retail salesperson may work for the same employer as a sim in the salaryperson career, just in different departments). Ideally there'd be mechanisms that let me tell the game all of this. If it cannot do that, then it's better to have as much freedom as possible and leave adding obstacles to the player.
tldr: Challenge for the sims, maximum freedom for the player
