Sims Medieval won't start and Codes are invalid

Hello,

I own the Sims Medieval and the extension pack - both in CD version.

When I tried installing it on my laptop (Windows 8) they can be installed without any further issue. The problem is that they won't start though. The launcher appears but then nothing. It just says that the game is starting or is in process? But nothing can be seen.

Looking at the other questions here, I tried redeeming my game on EA/Origin/Sims 3 to try installing it through there. None of them work and I tried that so many times. My codes are considered invalid.

I have never shared my codes and never redeemed them, so I don't know where the issue lies.

Deinstalling and reinstalling did not work for me as well and I tried that with 2 different laptops (both Windows 8)

I decided to contact the help-center-live chat and asked whether invalid codes can be replaced but they recommended me to write my problem here.

I really hope someone can help, I tried so many things and none work.

I just really want to play the game finally, so all kinds of help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance!

@lesoleildeminuit Hey there, I took a look at your account and I think I know what's happening.

To start, you can uninstall the disc version, if memory serves it won't run on Windows 8.

However the Origin version should run fine. You mention the codes not working when they should, but it looks like The Sims Medieval has been redeemed a few years ago on that account. So I'd guess it's in your library, just filtered/hidden, which would explain why you can't add it again.

So can you log into Origin, then click the Filter button in the top right, and go through all filtered games, especially the Hidden Games? Hopefully Sims Medieval will show up there for you, and you can download and play without further issue.

Please let us know how you get on, or if I've misunderstood any part of your post.

    Thank you.

  • @lesoleildeminuit Where exactly did you try to redeem the code on The Sims 3 website? Entering the code in Origin tells you to go to your Sims 3 My Account page, which is not where the code can be used. It can be redeemed on the Register a game page.

    https://www.thesims3.com/registeragame.html

If that one fails, try redeeming it here: https://www.thesims3.com/incentive/generalredeem.html

Just make sure you're logged into your Sims 3 account using the same email address from your Origin account.

When installing from CD, have you tried installing the patch or bypassing the launcher? I own an Origin version of the game and the launcher doesn't work, but running TSM.exe launches the game without any issues.

  • Thank you so much to everyone for the quick help!

I tried following the instructions here and you were right! After a bit of confusion I did found the Sims Medieval, the only issue I have is that the extension pack (Sims Medieval - Pirates and Nobles) is not there and the same issue applies with the code being invalid. I do not know why exactly the base game works but not the extension pack (I bought both in a combo)?

@lesoleildeminuit Does Pirates and Nobles appear in Medieval's Expansion Pack list? DLC no longer appears separately in Origin library, but in the list that you can access when you click on a base game in Origin.
  • I think it does appear but only as an option that I can buy as a Deluxe Pack. The version I had came with two CDs and two codes for them, but only one appears in my library. Also, thank you!
