swim

Hi! I'm playing at The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and I have a problem. The Sims can't swim. If I order a Sim to enter in a pool, he/she enters, but at the moment he/she is in the pool, suddenly appears outside the pool (in front of the ladder or under the trampoline). I tried it in Community sites, and it's the same.

Furthermore, when a guest goes to the pool, he/she can swim, but when is outside the pool, he/she has the foam around him/her, as if he/she would be still in the pool.

I think this is a bug, but I can't find a way to solve it. Any help, please?

  • @erdeivimlg Sounds like your Sim is experiencing a "jump bug", which happens when the game encounters an error and has to reset a Sim (or an object) to continue playing.

If you activate testing cheats, using the boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true cheat, the next time you experience a jump bug the game should throw an error message, along with an error file with more details about it.

If you have any Mods/CC, I advise you to test out the interaction in a fresh user folder, just to be sure that the vanilla game is still able to do it. Go to Documents\EA Games\ and move The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder to your desktop. Then, launch the game, and you should only see original Maxis content. Load a neighborhood and a family and see if Sims are able to use the pool.

  • I tried using the boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true and it said the message "Bad gosub tree number". It's an error about CC, right?

I tried to test out the interaction in a fresh user folder, as you said. In this case, the swimming interaction runs correctly. I suppose that I must check the CC folder and test the different files.

    Thank you for your help.

@erdeivimlg Bad gosub tree number is an error message that shows up when a mod is searching for a file in the game but it cannot find it. To put it simply, your game is missing something. Considering you have Ultimate Collection, a missing pack is not the problem here.

Sometimes, one mod might require an extra file or another mod to work correctly. The most common mod that is required for other mods is Cyjon's Smarter EP Check. I recommend you download that mod and install it into your game, because I believe it is the most likely culprit. The mod doesn't do anything on its own, so you can keep it in your game in case you ever download mods that require it.

If it's not this mod, I'm afraid you might have to look up your other mods and see if their creators mention any additional requirements to use them.

  • I solved it! You were right, it was a swimming mod that went wrong. I deleted it and the sims can swim now.

Thank you very much for the help
