The Sims 2 compatibility, Windows 10 (Expansion Packs)

PLEASE HELP! 

I've recently rediscovered my Sims 2 Pets disk (yay!), tried to install on Windows 10 but always get the same error - 'ts2upd.exe has stopped working' 

I've tried EVERYTHING: changing compatibility, troubleshooting compatibility, restarting when it asks for my Sims 2 disk even speaking to a few Microsoft technicians (who managed to wasted 6 hours of my time in total, turn my firewalls and anti virus software off without even bothering to tell me and were reliably useless as always). Is there anyway to fix this? I think that I just need to bypass the update part because that's when it decides that it's not going to work. I don't have an external hard drive or another device that I can transfer files to and from.

I'm a total dumbass when it comes to this kind of stuff so any sort of step by step guide would be REALLY, REALLY appreciated and I will love you forever.

    I found my antivirus software had blocked and quarantined the file (malware with high risk). I had to restore the file.

    Did you ever get the help for this? I was able to do this on my old laptop but I can't remember how it was done.
