[The Sims 2] Compatibility with Windows 8/10

Okay, I don't like Sims 3; Sims 2 is the best, I love it so much. I got a new laptop loaded with Windows 8 and I managed to get Sims 2 itself on my laptop but I can't install the patch therefore can't install any expansions. PLEASE MAKE A PATCH THAT MAKES SIMS 2 COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8! I don't want to have all these Sims 2 games for nothing. >.>

I just wanted to share how I was able to get The Sims 2 4 disc PC CD-Rom to work on my windows 8 laptop.
I firstly installed the sims 2 onto one of my family members windows 7 laptop. Once everything was installed and up and running, I went to My Computer - Data. In this folder was another folder called EA Games.
I put this entire folder onto a USB stick, which took about 25 minutes.
Then I went back to my windows 8 laptop and uploaded this 'EA Games' folder into my Data folder. Again I went to My Computer - Data and then just dropped the folder in there.
I then installed the sims 2 onto my windows 8 laptop. Once it was all installed I right clicked on the Icon on the desktop page went to properties - compatibility - compatibility mode - and selected Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
Then I right clicked on the icon again and clicked Run as Administrator. It crashed about 5 times but then just worked. My sims game is now up and running perfectly fine.

I still play sims 2 because its still best! <3 Now I chance windows 10 to my computer and sims 2 stop working. I have found online bunch of corrections, but they don't work. Still game crashes from the start. I hope you still manage to help because we love play sims 2 and its important. Please help me!!!

@Handelsson82 To keep it more organized, please start a new thread and provide more details, such as your specs, what kind of installation (disk, Origin) you have, and what fixes you have tried so far. The more info, the better.

Hi I downloaded the sims 2 disc last night into my laptop and played the game, made a sim and got her married etc but when I tried to play today, had that problem and the game loaded after using your method but now I can’t find my sim?
Everything else seems to be working fine just like before, such as CAS.

@natalie1657 Please start a new thread with more details about your game, whether you have any packs, which system and OS you play on, and any fixes you might have used for the game.
