The sims 2 launcher has stop stopped working

I have tried this and it doesnt work for me - have you any other suggestions.  I have all the expansions and stuff but it is the Mansions and Gardens which downloaded that starts the game.  I have tried altering the target from the launcher to mansions and garden (as suggested on another sire ) but nothing works - Help!!!

I have been playing Sims 2 for years and thoroughly enjoy it and have no interest in Sims 3! I have 11 games in sims2 but the launcher has stopped working!

Thank you so much for this! I've had problems all day trying to install he sims 2 deluxe for my little brother. Tried your work around and everything loaded perfectly. Phew, it's always nice to find a resolution to a problem like this, even if it's not ideal 🙂

i'll try that, thanks. because mine won't work either. and i totally agree with you there, sims 2 forever. anything newer than that was just too different for me /:

Go to Files; Computer; (C🙂; Program Files (Or Program Files (x86) if you have it); EA Games; The Sims 2 Double Deluxe; SP4; TSBin; Right click Sims2SP4 and click create shortcut. 

Just simply go to your latest game. I copied this from Yahoo answers and it worked for me. I was finally able to play too.

Having to disable the internet connection on your computer is rediculous. EA NEEDS TO FIX THIS. I don't care how worried about Sims 4 they are. It probably sucks just as bad as The Sims 3 did. Why else would everyone be complaining about Sims 2 not working? Sims 2 is the best Sims game thus far, and I'm sure anybody who played Sims 3 is hesitant to move on to Sims 4. Anyway, if anybody else has another solution other than disconnecting from the internet, please let me know!!!

Not exactly the whole story....   Yes, do not have your computer connected to the internet when you launch Sims 2.  That part is true.  The part being left out is this.... DO NOT ALLOW ORIGIN TO INSTALL AND REPLACE THE "EA DOWNLOAD MANAGER"  Period.  Every time you start your computer it will try to update to Origin and delete the EA download manager.  Hit cancell or click NO when the permission box comes up asking if you want to allow Origin or EA to make changes to your computer.   Also... i clicked on  EA Download Managers properties and its located at Program Files--X86--Electronic Arts--EADM.  I suggest you Copy EADM and paste it and its files to another folder somewhere elese on your computer.  That way if something happens to the EA Download manager you can restore it to its original role of being necessary to the games operation.  I have tried deleting the EA download manager and cannot get the came to run at all....even trying the other methods suggested by others who have posted in this topic.  It seems to me that EADM is necessary to the launchers functionality. 

Just remember to allways cancell or say no and unplug the internet while starting up the sims 2.  I also suggest copying the files associated with the sims 2 as a backup incase you have to reinstall the game.

One final thing...and i am being cynical here.  I believe this problem was created by Origin or EA Games...or probably both in order to get people to give up on the Sims 2 and go ahead and buy the new Sims 4.  I honestly believe that is the case.  I understand Origin recently gave away full copies of Sims2 and all its expansion packs for free.  The thing is...what good does that do if you cant get them to run?  I think they gave away the downloads for free just so that if anyone accused them of purposely sabotaging the sims 2 in order to sell sims 4....they could respond by saying we have no reason to do that...afterall we were giving sims2 away for free....etc etc etc.  Thats the way its looks to me.  I've been around for 49 years on this earth...and i have seen how rotten people/companies can be.  If i am right...i'll bet you they will delete or modify my post on this subject.  Huh, EA/Origin?  Did i hit a nerve?

this work around worked for me also,  skipping the launcher, and just running the game,

for me, Sims 2 Double Deluxe the pathway was

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Double Deluxe\SP$\TSBin\Sims2SP4.exe
