I know a fix! Right click on the Sims 2 and click properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and check the box named 'compatibility mode' then set the drop down menu under it to Windows XP (service pack 3).
I've tried mostly everything! I've tried contacting Origin, everything!
what they told me :
*Go to your desktop right click on your : The Sms 2 Double Deluxe Icon and hit properties.
*Go to the third tab, also known as Compatibility.
*Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7
*Run this program as an administrator.
NOTHING WORKED!
I've uninstalled then rebooted, reinstalled then rebooted, then I tried running it again and nothing.
this is seriously making me irritated. I don't have all the Sims games, even though they should make a patch for Windows 8.
But what you can do apparently is downgrade your computer to Windows 7 by contacting the person (Brand) Who made your computer.
For Example mine is an Asus, so I'll have to contact Asus.
IF yours is a dell you contact dell.
Same thing with Toshbia etc.
But considering I have to share a computer with my mom, there's no way in hell she's going to say yes, so... I'll just have to get a job & buy a Windows 7.
but I'll be waiting a long day in hell because my grades are - !#$%#*@ right now, good thing I'm homeschooled.

I FOUND A NEW FIX/FIXES! Ok this worked for me i went bought a new copy of the sims 2 this copy was made after the sims 3 it was already advertising the sims 3 expansions and stuff i installed the new copy to my computer hoping it would work becuase the sims 3 always ran smoothly on my computer it installed perfectly no game crashes hardly any lag and it worked perfectly but if you dont want to rebuy everything heres a link to a thread on modthsims http://modthesims.info/t/500523 Hope this helped
