[The Sims 2] SIMS 2 compaitability with windows 8

my hubby (im using his account btw)

loves the sims 3 I can't even get my head around it it's too complex and too far you lot nailed it on the head when you made

the sims 2 everything plus a few more so thanks leave it a that why must everyone forget the past for

would've made more sense to just make more expansion packs lol

I find it sad that you have made one compatible the new one and never thought that you need to go back and make all compatible
I also play the sims 1 and i'd love it if you bought it back onto the servers so I never have to find a sneaky copy that ruins my pc EVER AGIAN as it didn't run on my pc but a cracked copy did well at least before it destroyed my entire o.s this could've been avoided if you thought ahead at the time for both ts1 and ts2 of course windows will advance so if it does make patches for ALL of your games so we the consumer will continue to purchase ok 

that is NOT COOL and indeed very VERY silly idk what you got going on there but i'm the type who wants to play what I always have played and just because win8 is win8 doesn't mean that the game is incompatible it means the game creators haven't figured out gee maybe we need to make the game compatible if we cannot do this we need to release a patch and we all know about win8 so don't leave it to the masses thanks leave it up to the programmers and the team responsible for making sims and man  fun games.

because if that were true that sims 2 was im compatible then ahem nothing of the 32bit game-frame and half of windows wouldn't work including win8 and btw n fyi win8 is just win7 w a few new things added to it to make the customers go out n buy it the base is still the bloody same mind you i'm glad for win8 as it's very stable hardly crashes and people blame the people for games not the o.s because if it were the o.s the o.s would crash it's the game

as for sims 3 nah not my thing didn't like it sticking with the sims 2 and most likely the sims 4 which im eager to see but if it's too far out there im not buying it because just because it's new and wow it's not always worth it as after the sims 4 I will have to go thorough this again huh

his is the best advice I've seen so far that is sad im no i.t specialist and quick view on you tube and I found out how to fix this issue on my machine and all machines it involved no effort so i'm asking you all to do your bit so we the customers aren't annoyed as some live through this game and I hav my own life to lead

but im playing the sims 2 atm w all expansions but the xmas one

on win8 with no cracks no stupid alternatives and didn't need to switch compatibility

DONT TOUCH UR PC UNLESS UR A PROFESSIONAL OK

RUN THE TROUBLESHOOTER FOR COMPATIBILITY

AND LET UR PC FIND THE SUITABLE ONE OK

I appreciate that this is an old post, but I will put in my two penneth in anyway. I played TS1 when it first came out and was intrigued & entertained by real time game play. When the game developed to TS2, I loved it right from the start: I bought all the expansion and stuff packs, and regularly downloaded custom stuff. It was always a diversion for me, as I'm disabled with rheumatoid arthritis, but can still work a PC. Two weeks ago, my old desktop, (although a gaming machine that I had to sell my own granny for 7 years ago), finally decided to die, although I'd backed up all my files on an external hard drive. I bought a new PC, naively thinking that an all-thinking & all-dancing one with shed loads of graphics & memory could only enhance my game. My new PC came with Windows 8 installed. How wrong I was! I already had the Sims 3, but could never take to it. There's no denying that the graphics & mannerisms are better, but I find them a little bit ugly & too much the same, as if they're inbred. Alas! I found that the Sims 2 was incompatible with Windows 8, and I've wasted hundreds of pounds over these last 10 years. I don't want to sound like some sort of social degenerate, but I actually have a little sense of bereavement for them. I think it's very telling that, within a lot of forum sites, there are more people looking for Sims 2 finds, rather than Sims 3. I'll probably end up taking my week old desktop to an engineer & asking him to install Windows 7 or Vista on it. I feel that EA are bang out of order in not issuing a patch: it would take no effort at all for your techies to do

It might be possible that the same issue i was having with SIMCITY 4 is also affecting The sims 2. Not sure if a duel core processor would cause it , but you can try an experiment, since currently my sims 2 is not functioning.

1. Open Task Manager.

2. Start sims 2

3. Quickly press atl-tab to go to task manager

4. Right click on sims 2 in processes

5. Click "set afffinity".

6. Unclick one processor.

Not sure if this will work, but it is a shot it may help or no.

Is there a possibility that the crashes are due not only to windows 8 but also the graphics cards installed? Out of curiosity can people whove managed to get the sims 2 plus expansions working post what cards they have installed.

I have tried to run Sims 2 with various different compatibility modes (XP SP 3, Windows 7, Vista, etc.) but every time I just click on the launcher to run it pops up with a message that it is not compatible with the operating system installed and to upgrade to Windows 98, Windows 2000, etc. I have tried installing Managed Directx and this still doesn't help. Any other ideas? I think Sims 2 is the best Sims so far but now it won't work for most of us. Please EA, there has to be a solution?

Guys it doesn't matter if the sims 2 doesn't work on CAS just go into a pre-made family (a family you dont like or dont care about) get rid of all the family members part from 1 sim (kill them, move them out, up to you) then type in "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" and then edit your person you left behind in the family rename her/him and if you have University change the sims face and then change the sims clothes and the game doesn't crash! 🙂

Um, it definitely matters that CAS doesn't work. CAS was and is a big part of the game. And what about people who like the original families? Ugh, just... that's horrible advice, I shouldn't HAVE to use such a lousy, overly complicated way around CAS like that. I should be able to just play the game the way it's meant to be played.

Years ago I started playing The Sims, The Sims 2 and eventually The Sims 3. I actually do not enjoy The Sims 3, so I am still playing The Sims 2. Unfortunately, since I bought a new laptop, I have not been able to play this game. The laptop has an Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU @2.20GHz 2.20 GHz processor, 8.00 GB RAM card and a GeForce GT 640 graphics card. Also, it works on Windows 8. At first, I could not install any expansion packs due to a problem with the updates. After searching the internet for a solution, I was able to install all the expansion packs. (I downloaded files that replaced some of my Program Files (x86) > EA Games > De Sims 2.) I was relieved, because I was finally able to play the game again. (Yay!) Unfortunately, the game shut down everytime I tried to create a new household or tried to enter an existing household. I tried several tricks that I found on the internet, such as changing the compatibility settings to Windows XP or Windows Vista, but nothing worked. Now, I am kind of desperate for a solution. It is difficult to say goodbye to a game I enjoyed playing for such a long time. And The Sims 3 just isn't doing it for me.

I too hope I can play the sims 2 on windows 8 cus i have recently purchased the sims 2 double deluxe pack and open for business i do have my laptop with windows 7 but I hope EA have a fix for this too, so I am able to play on windows 8.
