@KetieSaner wrote:I have The Sims 2 Super Collection by aspyr for MacOS and have been playing it on my old MacBook fine for years.
I now have a new MacBook with the new M1 chip. I installed the game via the App Store and that worked fine.
I can start it create a neighbourhood, create Sims in CAS, just fine.
The problem starts when I try to go into gameplay. There the game just crashes. Any idea for setting I could tweak or other things I could look into?
I’ve just bought a new MacBook with M1 chip, and managed to get mine working after a few attempts!
While still in the neighbourhood I reduced as many game and camera settings as I could to either low or medium and I think it has done the trick.
After 5 mins of game play (and lots of saving!) on a small lot, I felt brave enough to try a larger plot to play. I definitely played for at least half an hour without a single crash, so I’m hoping it lasts! I may slowly increase the settings one by one, but for now I’m just delighted to be able to play again 🤓
I hope that helps!

I have this issue too and I just updated to Big Sur 11.1. My game crashes as soon as a lot loads. Like I get a one-millisecond glance of the lot and then it crashes. I've submitted two tickets to Aspyr support and I haven't heard anything back.
I've tried changing all the camera/graphics settings, I've tried different lots, different neighborhoods, removing custom content -- nothing works. It's weird because my game definitely starts up faster, and I get to the neighborhood screen much faster, than it used to on my old MacBook. So it's not like the computer can't handle the game. It's something about loading lots (for me, anyway).
PLEASE HELP this is so devastating.

FYI the current version of BigSur is 11.0.1 on M1 / Darwin ARM64 (non-beta - the latest beta is 11.2).
If you are on the beta branch for MacOS, I can tell you from experience that you can run into some minor to even major issues with apps and general OS functions (OS bugs - it's on beta for a reason!), so if you want to make sure stuff runs, highly advise to stay on non-beta (you can opt-out of beta but you will stay on beta until a new non-beta AKA release version is available).
Although you could, given you have enough disk space available, or get / use an external flash-drive / stick or disk, resize / create a partition and install MacOS again, then switch that one (might need to create and use another icloud account, to separate your two installs - that's what I'd do, to be on the safe side) to the beta branch - that way, if things don't work out there, you can always boot back into your non-beta version of MacOS.
I hope my input helps!

I am not on beta. I updated to Big Sur 11.1 through the regular Software Update option. 11.1 was released earlier this week.

Hi, oh no, I just downloaded the game yesterday and pulled all setting to highest value and the neighborhood looked good, however, I did not have time to play, will try it right now.
I do not have any CC at the moment and did not tweak anything, I will play now and see how it goes. If I run into issues I will open a ticket with Aspire as The Sims 2 is DA GAME and nothing compares :D Sims 4 is the worst, I hate it ...
UPDATE:
Same here... Was able to load fine, create a family, move them in and started adjusting the lot in the built mode. After like 3 min It crashed and now I cannot enter the lot as the game crashes instantly.
I am sooo mad! Bought it just so I could play and now nothing...
Where do I raise a ticket with Asypre?

@ZizzyLizzy89 , Google search for Aspyr.com. Once in their website look for Sims 2 Super Collection. Be as detailed as possible when explaining what happened. The more tickets people open, hopefully the game will be fixed. Aspyr is usually really good about answering back.
