The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection - continues to crash

So I've done my research through the boards and the wonders of google and have yet to find a fix for my issue....

Many years ago I bought the digital copy of Sims 2: Double Deluxe and was offered the option to download Ultimate Collection for free, following the lack of technical support that there will be for the Sims 2... Same story as many others.

Now, I've successfully downloaded and installed UC, can create my characters with no problem and even spent a good while making my house perfect and moving my family in.

At first, my gameplay could only last a few minutes before it'd freeze.  Now I have less than 30 seconds before my game freezes and I receive an error that says, "The application has crashed.  The application will now terminate."

Did some research and tried some things; I adjusted my resolution settings, have used a CFF Explorer to adjust the programs ability to access RAM and can't find any other solutions.  I've tried all of these that apply.

So now I'm left to wonder, what am I to do?  I could just play Double Deluxe but after seeing what UC has to offer, I don't want to.

My game can stay on forever it seems, just so long as I don't load up my family/home and my Sims don't complete their actions.  Once they complete their action and begin to move away, it freezes.  So in less than 30 seconds.  Mind you if I don't click away the tutorial things, it'll stay indefinitely as well.  Seems my Sims just don't like to move anymore.

So, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you~

  • Oh yes, and when I run 'perfmon /rel' there isn't an error log for the Sims 2 UC... And I've tried running the game in other compatibility modes to no avail.
