[The Sims 2] Ultimate Collection Error During "Create-A-Sim"

Question

So, like most people, I downloaded The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection through Origin recently. I'm running Windows 8, with an Intel graphics card and everytime I launch the game and enter the create-a-sim mode, my game will do one of two things: It will never load (left it running for about an hour, nothing) and when I alt+tab, a window pops up saying the application crashed along with a ".exe has stopped working and needs to close" message, or the crash error pops up and the game closes. I tried the Graphic Rules fix found here:&nbsp;http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 along with a Windows XP compatibility mode recommended by Windows 8 and running as administrator. So far nothing has worked. Any suggestions?&nbsp;
