The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection won't launch

I've contacted technical support about this issue months ago and never got a response or a solution. I tried the other suggestions what to do when a game won't launch and instead takes you right back to origin and that didn't work. 

  • @musicvibezz Please go to Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\ and delete Groups.cache and Accessory.cache files, then try launching the game.

    Let me know if that fixes it.

  • Right after I downloaded a free app removal EA resolved itself. So I guess EA was just down since I didn’t get a chance go try out the app removal. Thanks for the suggestion it makes more sense now.

    @Tremayne4260 I wanted to put this out there in case someone missed it.

    I found this by accident on Answer HQ a short while ago, EA Cade had posted it back in January [Workaround] Running The Sims 2 on Modern PCs - Answer HQ (ea.com) 

    I tried the steps outlined in this post, and it worked!  I got the Sims2 to run again. Can't wait to play again. It's been forever.  Thanks to you for all of your help, and a very special thanks to EA Cade. I hope that this news helps others.

    When I go there, I don't see any groups.cache nor Accessory.cache files?

    @msjelly6191 Since this is an older thread, please start a new one with more details on what happens when you try to launch the game, whether you get any error messages. It looks like your user folder is on One Drive, which is not recommended, so making sure your Documents folder is stored locally might be the first step to go through.
