The Sims Medieval (disc) won't uninstall

I have a disc copy of The Sims Medieval, which no longer works after installing the 2.0.113 patch. I've read the only way to fix this is to uninstall the game and re-install it via Origin, which in theory is fine - I've managed to redeem my code and have a digital copy now.

HOWEVER!!! My game won't uninstall via the Control Panel! Whenever I try to uninstall it, I get the error message:

"An error (-5005 : 0x8000ffff) has occurred while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other aplications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Electronic Arts (##IDS_PRODUCT_URL##)."

How can I uninstall this game?

UPDATE: For anyone having issues with this, I recommend installing the Revo Uninstaller because that was able to get rid of the game for me.
