The Sims Medieval launch error. Installation verification failure

I just redeemed an old copy of The Sims Medieval on the EA app yesterday. I installed it through the app, but when launching the game, the main menu appears followed by an error message saying the installation verification has failed and that the installation is incomplete and so the game cannot be played. When the error is closed, the game shuts down. I've tried repairing the file numerous times, as well as clearing cache files and restarting the PC, but it's still not working. Any suggestions?

@EA_SolaireI am no longer getting the verification error after installing the game via my disks, and I can now use the EA app to launch the game after this [see seventh attempt 🙂 ]. In fact, yesterday I added 15 hours to my play time. 🙂 I think my game crashed once? But other than that it ran smooth as butter.[ NB for anyone else who reads this: I did have to edit my graphicsDB.sgr in the game/bin folder to have the game recognise the RAM to the 4GB limit for the 32-bit engine on 64-bit machines, just like you do for TS3. Easy google search to find out how (not sure what the rules are here for linking the how-tos here 🙂 ). This is not, however, relevant to to original error].

Having said that, I do still have the "purchase the game option" in the app as of this morning. I'll take a screenie and add it to this post in a sec.  🙂

ETA images. I also popped up an image showing P&N is installed, just in case it's needed. Also, apologies for the weirdo images. Paint resizing.

Edited again to add: I checked just in case it's relevant, even the MEcubed Legendary Edition, purchased via Steam and installed via Steam, doesn't have that "purchase" option available.

@Bethgael , thank you very much for your concise summary of what you have done. I will pass this information along to see if something can be done to fix TSM as I am like you I think there are missing files and people have done all kinds of odd things to get the game to play.

    Props to you!!

    Hey there @Bethgael

Are you still seeing this error message and seeing an option to purchase the game in the app?

@EA_Solaire This is still a problem with this game. I just tried to play the game through steam, (I had purchased it on steam before it was taken down). It won't launch at all on steam, so I tried to get the CD key through the EA App. Had to go to the sims website like it says and validate the key there, which I did. It then let me download and install the game, but this verification error comes up every time.

I don't have a CD to "fix" this problem....

    Same problem here.
Redeemed my CD-Key on Sims3 website.
Sims Medieval (Standard Edition) shows up in EA APP.

Downloaded game, shows "installation verification failure" on main menu and quits.

I can still purchase Sims Medieval in the EA App, though!

The only available purchase option is Deluxe Version.

What does the installation verification verify? If I own a license to the game? Does it compare my Standard Edition against the Deluxe Edition?

Do I have to purchase the deluxe edition and refund it?

  • The Installation Verification the game does is broken.

It does not verify the standard edition.
I purchased the Deluxe Edition, installed it, and refunded it.
My account is back to the standard edition and it works.
