The Sims Pet Stories "The Application has crashed..."

I just installed my The Sims Pet Stories game, but when I try to play it, it only opens these Learn to play buttons, like this:

I have had this game installed to my other computer, that I don't have anymore. But this hasn't happened before.

Anyway, when I try to play it, it loads only up to 3 steps, before saying "The Application has crashed. The application will now terminate.":

I have tried many things I found, but nothing seems to help. Can someone help me?
