The Sims Superstar and Makin' Magic

No, this isn't about The Sims 2, but EA doesn't seem to acknowlege the existence of the original at all. Not even an option to choose.

Anyway, I felt like playing the original, for which I have all of the expansion packs. They all worked great until I installed the last two. Superstar and Makin' Magic.

After installing Superstar, the game won't start. I run it, screen goes black, then crashes back to the desktop.

I then installed Makin' Magic, hoping it would fix the problem, but it didn't. Same problem.

I was unable to locate any patches to fix this issue.

I'm running Windows XP Professional SP3.

Any help would be valued!
