Trying to install The Sims 2 seasons

I am currently trying to install The Sims 2 Seasons from a disc (I have almost all EP and SP) but after sucsesfully installing it wants to check for patch updates and this is where it fails. It says something along the lines of "the patch update failed, may apply to a different pack, please reinstall" (not exactly that but similiar) I ended up installing the rest of the packs since seasons decided not to work. I installed the packs in order and after seasons failed I just gave up on it and installed the rest of the packs. Is there a way to mayeb skip the checking installation phase? Or anything else?

  • @Julli2727 If I remember correctly, The Sims 2 Seasons disk contains the base game patch, so that one is probably failing and crashing your installation. You can find all The Sims 2 Patches on Mod the Sims, and I recommend installing the ones you need manually, instead of waiting for another pack to attempt the patch. That way Seasons will probably tell you that the game is up to date and successfully finish the installation.

If you need to update The Sims 2 base game, or University and Nightlife EPs, you will need GrumpyLoader, which is available on Mod the Sims and helps with patches that crash (from my experience, only base game, University and Nightlife are affected). You can find it with a quick Google search.

Let me know if installing the necessary patches manually helps or if the game still gives you trouble.

  • @mate54I have the Sims 2 deluxe so as far as I know that includes the patch for that game. But I definitely have to try to patch all my EP and SP’s. I really think it may do the trick. I just don’t remember how to patch them. And also, after downloading the patches will I have to uninstall all SP and EP down to seasons and install seasons? (Installing everything in the order) or should I be able to just install it even though I have installed newer packs?

@Julli2727 To patch them, all you have to do is run the patch file (all of them are available on MTS) for every pack that you own (and if it even has a patch) and wait until it confirms a successful installation.
As for installing Seasons out of order, it is possible and should not conflict with your installation if you already have newer packs. Just remember that you will also have to install the Seasons patch once the pack is installed.
  • @mate54 So I did need to patch my games but Family fun stuff just wont patch. It downloads perfectly fine and is playable but when grumpyloader tries to download the patch it says "Installation failed, you may have to reinstall The Sims 2 Family fun stuff" or something like that. I already tried reinstalling but it didn't work. I think it may be the cause for the Seasons install problem. I can definitely live without family fun stuff but not without seasons, therefore I will try to uninstall Family fun stuff and then install seasons. Maybe it'll work. Do you know why im getting this issue?
  • @mate54 okay so I just tried to download Seasons after uninstalling Family fun stuff but of course, it still won't work. I am unsure if it's because of the patch that failed or not but i'm just confused. What should I do?

@Julli2727 Try reinstalling patches for all packs that came before Seasons, using GrumpyLoader. Does your Seasons disk contain any patches other than base game in TSBin folder?
  • @mate54 These are the files I found on the disk.

Edit: Decided to add a couple (not all of my EP and SP's) more screenshots from different packs

This is my "Base Game" (Sims 2 Deluxe) Disk/EP2/TSbin

Here is Family fun stuff (Not currently installed)

    Here's pets

And this is Teen style stuff

I have picked a couple random packs but if you want a screenshot of a specific one tell me!

Ones I have installed: The sims 2 Deluxe, University, Christmas party pack, Open to business, Family fun (uninstalled), Pets, Seasons (Never installed, failed), Celebration!, H&M fashion, Bon voyage, Teen style, FreeTime, kitchen and bath, Ikea, Apartments (Don't have the disk yet).
