Unusual skin colors

Hello everyone, I hope y'all are staying safe. I have a question for you.
How do you feel about unusual skin colors, such as purple, red, green in your game? In whatever part/parts you like. I myself prefer playing in a more realistic way and try to represent real life in the realistic worlds, and yet I like my Dragon Valley elves. Yesterday I had an argument with a person who claims that we don't need unusual skin tones in the game because "no one" uses them. We (other simmers and me) tried to explain him that many people (not all people, but many people) can use them to recreate supernatural creatures that aren't in the games (such as demons, angels, elves etc) or change the way our supernatural sims look - pale vampires, fairies of all rainbow spectrum colors, green witches etc. But this person still claims that no one or just 1 percent of simmers need it.

So how do you feel about such things in the game? Do you use unusual skintones once in a while? Or maybe very often? Or maybe you don't use it yourself but realize that other players may need them?

  • I use them all of the time! I'm an occult player though and I need them, especially for my aliens and mermaids. I can see how a realist player wouldn't need them, it's definitely more of an occult player thing or a berry player thing.
  • I don't use them a lot. But, I decided to do a Sulani save with all plant Sims as conservationalists. The usual Plant Sim will only stay a Plant sim for 5 days. So, I made my own Plant sims. They have the green hair/skin/eyes, the most 'mother earth' friendly traits I could find and I kinda just role play the rest. It's working out well for me.
  • Don't use em, don't like em, but also don't care.

As long as there are no berry townies (cept in supernatural EP), having the option is better than not having it, the person you talked to was either thick or flaming.

I guess point could be made that it detracts from developping the "real game", but I sure hope that adding facepaint didn't take them long, and like it or not, supernatural is part of the entire "real" sim series (I don't especially like it personally, but it's in EP anyway and it proves aI guess than more than 1% simmers use facepaint).
  • I only use them for aliens and other supernatural sims, but mostly aliens, and I like that there are so many different colours to choose from (green, blue, purple, red, white), makes it easier to pretend I have different alien species depending on their skin colours and other properties.

For non-occult human sims, though, I only use natural skin colours and mostly natural hair. I would use the unnatural hair colours more if they weren't so bright and flashy.
  • I love using different colours for my sims, I use cc though because the ones in game are a bit boring
