For the first year and a half I just played with the same couple, and upgraded them with the packs as I bought them (they moved to Forgotten Hollow and one of them became a vampire, then they moved to Sulani and the other became a mermaid... :D ). Occasionally I played with Caleb as well, as he was always sneaking into my house to play videogames and befriended my sims.
But then I started revamping other worlds with gallery buildings, and did tons of townie makeovers to play with different families. That’s when the real game started for me! Until them, I have been restricted to the towns I was living/vacationing, ignoring most features of the expansions. I didn’t know Brindleton Bay could be so beautiful until I started playing more on it, same as Strangerville or Windenburg! And having more detailed sims with new relationships inside the neighborhood made my game way richer. The downside is that the game takes more to load in my 2012 Mac, but for me it’s worthy :).
