Honestly at this point we don't know. For my own part, I wouldn't be surprised at all, it was very popular.

@EA_David If re-released for free again, would there be any chance of a Mac version? and, if no, would that because of a lack of demand or another reason?

I was wondering the same thing: I've been away on vacation for over a week and just realized that this offer ended. This makes me sad, and here's a little background as to why...
My son's autistic, and I wanted to get this version of the Sims and see if it would somehow help him express some of the feelings he sometimes has a hard time describing. I was thinking we could build little families together and I'd let him make up stories with them, all the while getting him to open up about what's going on with the characters and situations he's creating. Heck, he may even want to create Sim version of mom, dad, his older brother and himself, and I'd be super curious to discover what he could do. Now, I'm lucky that my son is lower on the autistic spectrum than many cases I've seen, but still: any tool that can get him to externalize his internal monologue could potentially be extremelly useful for him, and I was curious to see if the Sims 2 could play a part in this. I hope it comes back, because I was actually even looking on Origin to see if I could buy the Sims 2 Ultimate Edition, but it does not seem to be available for purchase. I'd love to see if it connects with my son & hopefully we'll be able to get it some other time.

I mean they really need to extend the time. I just read about this and even had I found out in time, my internet has been nonexistant or slower than dial up for the last month. Stupid isp has cancelled 2 times to fix it so I guess Im just left behind like many others. Honestly...would it kill em to give it another few months?
If we do have any Sims 2 content, how would we register them? I have tried to put my expansion packs onto Origin by adding it through the "add game", but it always tells me that it is invalid. I would love to see this go back free as I did not find out about it until it was over.

Please update us as soon as possible if another offer would be given. The Sims series has been part of many people's lives and it would be a shame if we missed it only because we were not informed about it.
