Can't buy anything from my home store except for stack of magazine.

The task assigned in the Quest for The Road to Fame has you buy a stack of magazines.  After buying the stack of magazines and completing the task I can no longer get anything from the home store except magazines!  I find here on EA that others have had this problem in the past but there are no solutions posted.  If EA can't help, who can?  Frustrating!
