Can't complete Practice Karate with a sparring dummy

I take my preteen to the Community Centre to practice with the sparring dummy but no matter how long he spends practicing the goal won't complete. The pre teen is already level 2 at karate but the blue exclamation mark still hovers around the sparring dummy so I can't progress any further. Please help.
