Community Market disappointing

I love to set my sims to plant for an hour and come back to it as a reward in my working day. This is how I’ve updates my job locations - police, movie, spa, hospital, as well. Set things and come back.

This new update appears to me nothing more than a money grab, it hinders my ability to make simoleons, because I used to have like 25 sims sitting around growing things. Now I have none. The market at most will be able to hold ten so what do I do with the other ones? It will take much longer for me to accumulate simoleons to do other tasks so the part of the game that is my favorite - growing the town and building more things will take longer to do, and for what? Something that looks like the sims version of township ( based on the ads) which I don’t play on purpose because it looks boring as heck?

Not to mention I have to purchase each of the plots at the market, they aren’t just readily available like all my former plots. So really, rather than paying me in simoelons for the plants that were growing, you should have also offered a premium for the plots that I can no longer make simoleons off of. Now there is less interest for me in playing the game.

You never do anything to improve the creative side of the game for the player. If I want to build a house to design my people I have to scroll through all the options I’ve collected over years of play, there’s no good search for this yet, there’s no different body types to better look like a more varied group of people, you don’t have any disabled characters at all. All that potential creative expression is hindered, but for me that’s part of why I play in the first place. Everyone I know who plays any version of the sims plays for that creative aspect. Sure we need simoleons to do so, but why fix something that isn’t broken and continue to ignore something that players continue to ask to improve, it just makes no sense to me why there isn’t more consumer research for these updates.

New market is super boring and slow.  I just reached out to feedback and said the same thing.  No reason to play if what already takes forever, takes twice as long since it’s now much slower. I already miss the regular garden lots.

My buildings are at 4 million, too, but after this awful "community market" thing, I'm thinking of not even trying to level up any more. I don't like the remaining discovery quests any way, I'm happy with my sims, and I just want to build more houses. They've just turned it into another farming game in my opinion, where you have to babysit it for hours at a time in order to get any where, and I always get bored with those games, since I can't waste that kind of time on a game, and end up deleting them after a few weeks. I'm certainly not wasting my money on it any more. So I'll just build my houses until I get bored with it, I guess, which won't be long since it's now nearly impossible to make decent simoleons.

I completely agree with your post! I think it's stupid that it takes your available Sims in order to plant at the Community Market.

I agree, I HATE this update to growing crops. I’m at a point where every building costs 4 million, at this rate I will never be able to progress past where I am. I hope enough complaints & they put it back the way it was

Exactly. I loved playing this every day, but this morning I don't even want to open it at all. I would get on every hour or two throughout the day, having them plant, and then send them to work while I slept. I made good simoleons and enjoyed checking in with my simpeople. Now in order to make anything worthwhile, I have to babysit it, constantly, for hours at a time. I can't do that! I have people, real people, that depend on me, chores to do, errands to run, I can't spend hours at a time staring at a screen for a game! This is why I don't play farming games. This is why I gave up doing the "professions", even though I really wanted to do them. I don't have time to waste hours on just a game when real people need me. Now they've ruined it, this will probably go the same route as all the farming games I've tried...deleted.

  • Same here, I’ve been playing for years and don’t know if I will continue. They can keep the Community Market but also give us back being able to plant on our home lots.  That is how I made plenty of Simoleons by having my Sims plant overnight.  Now I have around 13 Sims with really no way to earn overnight. Really disappointed. Unless I want to sit and plant every 6-35 minutes this update is causing me to lose Simoleons.
