I'm happy that simmers that don't already own this kit can now get it for free. That said, given the overwhelmingly negative response from the community to the marketplace (not to mention everything else going on with the franchise), an allocation of free Moola (equivalent to a Kit price) to each player's account as part of today's update would have been a better way of appeasing the player base than giving away a kit that's literally been available for five years and is already in a lot of people's collections.
I honestly wonder if they did this as a soft launch, and as basically a social experiment. Just to see how many boycott, how much negative feedback/backlash, etc. They may fine tune "sales" and Moola "price adjustments" after this, before they launch to console players, or after a few months released and seeing the stats.
Afterwards, I would not be surprised if eventually we get free Moola with events, or a one time free Moola amount would be given to all players as an incentive to start using the currency. And maybe even eventually adding the ability to gifting of Moola.
