Game gets stuck when entering the marketplace

Whether I access the marketplace from live mode, or the main menu screen, my game gets stuck with no way to go back.  There's either endless buffering, or blank content; and I can't click anything to go back.  My only option is to force quit the game.  I'm not a fan of the marketplace whatsoever, but I would like to get rid of that little, flashing light, accompanied by a tooltip, in live mode.
