Re: Marketplace Feedback

Hi,

I don't know the opinion of other players but I can share my own experience.

Why do I buy nothing ?

Here some reasons :

  • The Sims 3 Store vs Marketplace :
    • Collecting content :
Maxis official content is designed to be "collected" like packs.
Maker Pack is design to be picked only if it satisfies a need like CC & Mods, and in long term it will have the same issue : an overwhelming quantity of content decreasing the quality of my player experience. Tons of CC have already ruined my experience with The Sims 2 and 3 so this time I will target very specific content only.

    • Themes :
It took 2 years to TS3 Store to bring interesting themes, for example FutureShock sets.

Right now, Marketplace is too young, the themes cruelly lack of variety.

    • Game Experience :
I also started to purchase sets in 2011 because of the first gameplay objects : Washer & Dryer ( Load of Laundry set) and Lady Ravendancer Goth's Book o' Spells.
The Marketplace has no gameplay and no world so the gain is null.

  • Daz3D Shop vs Marketplace :
    • Creativity :
I spent thousands of dollar in Male clothing and Sci-fi themed products for Daz Studio (7211 products in my library).
The fact that the Marketplace is stuck with Female CAS and cozy content doesn't motivate me at all.
Creator Kits and Maker Packs feel generic, sanitize and repetitive.

    • Dream :
The other strength of Daz3D Shop is the ability to inspire me.
The Marketplace content is not stimulating, it doesn't trigger something in my mind, just a feeling of "Yet Another Generic Content".

  • Community vs Marketplace :
After 12 years of CC, the Marketplace is very irrelevant in the current context.
Why players would pay for tiny sets when they can download tons of content for free ?
The only thing that the Marketplace does is CC for Console players. Just a paywall instead of a premium service.

Conclusion :

The Marketplace :

  • is the lowest priority
  • is not original right now
  • is too young (only 5 months old, it needs 3 years to build a larger catalog and to figure out its own identity)
  • doesn't extend the existing gameplay (no gameplay object, no world)
  • doesn't provide fantasy yet (Magic and Sci-fi)
  • neglects male sims
  • doesn't make me dream, it's not a source of inspiration
  • is mainly a club for Xbox/Playstation players (As PC player, I'm not a targeted customer due to tons of free CC available online).
