Question about EA Maker Program eligibility for a creator residing in Russia

I would like to ask EA for clarification regarding the eligibility requirements for The Sims Maker Program.

According to EA's official information about the program, one of the requirements for becoming a Maker is:

"Not reside in an EA-embargoed region."

EA's own information about regional restrictions also lists Russia among the countries affected by EA embargoes, sanctions, or other legal restrictions.

At the same time, I recently noticed that SolovejCC, a Russian custom content creator, has been accepted into The Sims Maker Program and is publishing content through the official The Sims 4 Marketplace.

This is particularly notable because the Maker Program is not simply a community recognition program. Approved Makers can publish their content directly on the official in-game Marketplace and receive revenue from sales. EA states that Makers receive approximately 30% of the Moola spent on their Maker Packs.

There are several public indications that SolovejCC is currently based in Russia. Her YouTube channel identifies Russia as its country, and through her Telegram channel she directs her audience to the Russian messenger MAX.

I am not asking about her nationality or ethnicity, and I am not asking EA to make a judgment about an individual creator. My question is specifically about the application of EA's own eligibility requirements.

If Russia is considered an EA-embargoed region, how was a creator residing in Russia accepted into the Maker Program?

And if creators residing in Russia are in fact eligible for the Maker Program, could EA clarify how this is consistent with the stated requirement that Makers must not reside in an EA-embargoed region?

I would appreciate a clear explanation of the current policy and how eligibility is determined.

Thank you for bringing this up and breaking it down so clearly. It really raises valid questions about fairness and transparency in how EA applies its own regional restrictions and compliance policies. If official sanctions and embargoes apply to certain regions, the eligibility rules for monetized programs like the Maker Program should be enforced consistently for everyone, without exceptions or gray areas. The community deserves clear answers on how these checks are actually handled during the onboarding process. Following this thread!

The Russian Federation has been officially added to the sanctions list and cooperation with Russian bloggers is prohibited, including participation in the Marketplace creator program. It seems that the company is not following its own rules.

Same. I hope, this is a mistake, cause I am an old truly fan of NFS and the sims. I would prefer if I could buy EA's games in the future

  • I think this is a completely reasonable question and deserves a clear answer from EA. If Russia is considered an EA-embargoed region, it would be helpful to understand how a creator currently residing there can participate in the Maker Program and sell content through the official Marketplace. I hope EA can clarify the policy for everyone.

I completely agree! If the rules established by the company are going to be violated in the future, then what is the point of having them at all? Russia is still a terrorist state and an aggressor, and that has not changed. I really hope this issue will be taken seriously and that the appropriate conclusions will be drawn.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see a clear and appropriate response.

Thank you for bringing this up. Rules should apply equally to everyone, so it's really concerning to see EA ignore their own eligibility guidelines. We definitely need a clear answer on this.

    Hey Simmers,
We've seen a few questions pop up about eligibility for the EA Maker Program and wanted to jump in with a quick clarification. To protect Maker privacy and safety, we do not publicly share personal information, including location. However, active participants must meet the EA Maker Program's eligibility requirements, and failure to do so will result in removal from the program. The program has processes in place to help ensure those requirements are met.

To protect this individual's privacy and keep the conversation constructive, we are locking this thread to prevent further speculation.
Thanks for caring so much about our Maker community!
