How in the world do I start a friendly story? Am I missing something? I click on other sims and I start an event, yet it's not considered friendly? Please help?

Gee I am at the hard part where I spend eight hours waiting for my sims to finish an event. Also Izzy making clothes counts as buying them in the event. Aww I'm sorry @GoldenBuffy I kind of knew about the second daily task so I finished that one.
