If a player is demoted to inactive status, it might be possible to remove the alliance bonus from him. I don't recall much about either inactive nor trial status. If you feel like you want to kick and destroy all his bases, then why not. Try proving your expertise to the novice by destroying his base in 3 or less attacks with each at minimum repair time.
