C&C Generals zero Hour

I played solo campaign on medium difficulty up to stage 4. It beat the hell out of me and had to restart mission 12 times. 

Decided to restart solo campaign on easy. Discovered that i can change the resolution and changed from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 860 I think. I played to stage 4 beginning again. Saved the game and shut down laptop.

Today if i want to start the game it says i must make sure i have at least direct x 8.1 or higher installed and that my graphics card is supported.

 I have direct x 12 installed. after clicking on ok the EA app says i need to do repairs because files are corrupted. Did it 5 times. No positive results

Uninstalled the game. restarted the laptop. Installed it again. Same problem.

Because i cannot even start the game i cannot change the resolution back to what it was so i am not having any plan to fix the problem. 

please assist anyone
